Tithe Your Time

First fruits don’t just belong to God—they honor Him.
We hear about tithing money all the time. The first 10%. The first fruits. The principle of giving God what is right, not what is left. But what about your time?
You wake up. Roll over. Check your phone. Scroll. Maybe hit snooze one more time. And before you know it, the first part of your day has been tithed—to distractions. To everyone but God.
What would it look like to tithe your time? To give God the first portion of your day, not just your bank account?
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.”
- Proverbs 3:9
Yes, the Bible talks about crops, income, increase. But I believe there’s a spiritual principle in here that applies to more than just money. What’s the most valuable thing you have today? Time. And where your time goes, your heart follows.
We live in a world where our schedules are jam-packed. We tithe our energy to work. We tithe our creativity to social media. We tithe our emotional capacity to everyone who needs a piece of us. And somehow, God gets the leftovers.

Let me ask you this: when was the last time you gave God the first 15 minutes of your day? Not as an afterthought. Not in the car on the way to work while multitasking. But intentionally. Joyfully. Like someone bringing their first harvest to the King.
When the Israelites brought their first fruits, it was an act of worship. It was sacred. It cost something. It was a way to say, “God, You gave me this, and I trust You with what comes next.”
So what if your mornings looked like that?
What if before you gave your time to emails, appointments, or errands, you gave it to the One who gave you breath?
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
- Matthew 6:33
Seek first. Not after everything else. Not if there’s time left. First.
This isn’t about legalism. It’s about alignment. It’s about priority. It’s about worship.
Your time is a seed. When you plant it in the presence of God, you’re not losing time—you’re multiplying purpose. When you give God your first, you’re inviting Him to bless the rest.
Today, I challenge you - before the world gets your yes, let God have your attention.
Tithe your time.
Talk to Him before you talk to anyone else.
Open your Bible before you open your apps.
Give Him your eyes, your ears, your heart—first.
You’ll be amazed what He does with the rest.

Journal with me:
How have I been spending the first part of my day?
What distractions have been robbing me of the time I owe to God?
What would it look like to offer Him my first and my best, daily?
